First week(s) of IVSA PRC secretary
My first weeks as a IVSA secretary for the Public Relations Coordinator (Malcolm Chong Kwok Wei)……. where should I begin?
Our term started on the 1st of September, but we already did a lot of preparations beforehand. We started collecting information about business cards and made some design examples that were sent for approval. We also collected sizes and preferences for making the official t-shirts, which every IVSA Official will get.
Malcolm started working on the website and Facebook, and made me moderator of the Facebook too. It’s really nice to see all the responses on posts and the growing number of likes for this page! In the meantime I started 2 elective courses at my university (of Utrecht); Governance&Policy, and French (read: shoot me please). French is not really my thing, but since I will be doing my minor at the OiE in Paris next year, I kind of had to do this.
Besides that, I am still a secretary in our Chapter until October. Denise (president), Caroline (EO) and I were all so amazed by our first IVSA congress in Romania that we immediately tried to implement a lot of things we learned there into our own chapter. We had a really productive meeting last week and have one more coming up this week.
I was already ‘tackled’ by Ann-Katrin (MOD) at the congress in Romania to help in making the new EO Bulletin. This new bulletin should be a simple easy to read newsletter that we can send out every month to all the delegates. Last year, I was moderator of the IVSA Newsletter in The Netherlands and since Ann-Katrin saw one of these newsletters, she wanted me to help her.
We had a Skype meeting about this bulletin on Saturday two weeks ago, together with her secretaries. Last Sunday (after a really fun birthday party mine and roommate´s on Saturday) Ann sent me all the texts and I copy-pasted these into the new bulletin. There is still a lot of work to be done and to improve this thing, but I am really liking the progress so far!
After that, I reactivated the Instagram page (@ivsa_global) since this had not been active for a year. In just two days, we got from 89 up to 105 likes so we hope to keep this thing going as well!
As you can see, being part of the secretariat means having a good combination of my own studies, IVSA (locally and globally) and my social life!! I have to thank Malcolm for his amazing work and the fact that he is always able to help and support you (even in the middle of the night) :D.
